Manny Villar Ads everywhere!!!
Just wanted to make this short post about one thing I noticed from the “Tunay na Mahirap” according to his TV ad – the one and only Manny Villar…
Geez! Kung tunay na mahirap ‘to, mukang waldas naman masyado sa pera. I see TV ads (always) and was surprised to see him having ads on Google and Facebook!!! Well, well… I’m sure these are sponsored ads but if I were the “Tunay na Mahirap”, I’d be telling them to instead give the money to other poor people, sa kapwa mahihirap diba???
But oh well… it’s all about popularity. Takot lang ako. If it’s his money, then malamang babawi yan (just like most other politicians). It it’s sponsored money, then hmmm, hindi kaya utang na loob yan???
Just echoing out my thoughts.
Clear your Mind
Have you ever come to the point when have to juggle several things just to make a good decent living? It’s usually during those times when you have to pay for a lot of things like bills, tuition fees, rent and so on. Then just as thought that the pain’s over, you realize that you need to help some of your relatives and friends.
Get the drift?
Well, I’ve been there, in fact just recently. Thank goodness a couple of friends put me back into focus and helped me clear my mind. Yes, situations like this can put you out of focus and in a lot of mess in a short span of time. Good thing for me, I had friends.
If you find yourself in a situation when things seems to jump on you like spiders from the ceiling, I suggest that you take a step back and analyze your situation. Are you still in the right track? Check for things that you’re probably missing and get back to your goals. Clear your mind and soon you’ll see better.
Plane Lands After Losing a Wing
This is just about the most amazing airplane landing I’ve ever seen. The plane loses a wing during flight but still manages to land. The pilot is definitely skilled and should be commended for bravery and self-control. The plane too was awesome. If it didn’t have enough engine power, the pilot wouldn’t have been able to do it.

Now, ain’t that great?!?! Definitely made my blood rush.
Strawberry Quick and Cheese Meth
My Ninong Rene Lamzon forwarded an email to me about a new method of spreading methamphetamine (a.k.a. shabu, meth, etc) to kids in school. They call it “cheese” or strawberry quick and its deadly to kids. The very thought makes me sick. I just hope all these drug dealers, pushers and like be exterminated from the planet!
Here’s the email:
A MUST READ…. New drug in Schools…
Please pass this on even if you do not have kids in school. Parents should know about this killer drug.
Grandparents, send it to your families and friends.

This is a new drug known as ’strawberry quick ‘.
There is a very scary thing going on in the schools right now that we all need to be aware of.
There is a type of crystal meth going around that looks like strawberry pop rocks (the candy that sizzles and ‘pops’ in your mouth). It also smells like strawberry and it is being handed out to kids in school yards. They are calling it strawberry meth or strawberry quick.
Kids are ingesting this thinking that it is candy and being rushed off to the hospital in dire condition. It also comes in chocolate, peanut butter, cola, cherry, grape and orange.
Please instruct your children not to accept candy from strangers and even not to accept candy that looks like this from a friend (who may have been given it and believed it is candy) and to take any that they may have to a teacher, principal, etc. immediately.
Pass this email on to as many people as you can (even if they don’t have kids) so that we can raise awareness and hopefully prevent any tragedies from occurring.
Vector Graphics on CorelDraw

For years I thought that people have stopped using CorelDraw in creating vector graphics. Actually, the last time I saw someone use CorelDraw was like 10 years ago. Recently, all I’ve seen that’s being used is Adobe Illustrator. Just when my mind is settled that no one uses CorelDraw anymore, I saw a bunch of vector graphics on Picasa that were made using CorelDraw, I guess I spoke too soon.
Nice yoyo huh? You can find more CorelDraw vector graphics at Benj Arriola’s Picasa Album.
Vacation’s Over!!!
The 11-day holiday vacation (December 25 to January 4) here in the Philippines that had my boss running worried because I wasn’t working for such a long time is finally over. Now, it’s back to writing new programs, enhancing existing ones and the never-ending fixing of bugs.
Kei and Vhi are back in school which means that I’ll be hearing them and their mom arguing on homeworks and projects again. On the up-side the house will be quieter with only one of our three children being left behind at home because he’s not studying yet or did I speak too soon? He may be just one kid but Jae can turn the whole house upside down in just half a day. Oh well, as Luna Lovegood in “Harry Potter” used to say, “it’s all good fun.”
Speaking of Harry Potter, I finally got to finish books 6 and 7, both of which are awesome. They were so awesome I managed to finish both books in just 4 days.
So, what’s gonna be new for me this 2009? I gave up making New Year’s resolutions years ago. Instead of promising myself of what to do and what not to do, I decided to just get started on new things during the closing days of 2008. I didn’t burden myself with too much but instead just chose to focus on one thing – make more cash for 2009. I’ll be building more traffic to my sites in an effort to boost my adsense earnings and create new websites to sell affiliate products. Even better, instead of just promising myself to do it, I started doing it back in December.
Lastly, what did 2008 teach me? Well, it taught me a lot but the best lesson I learned from 2008 is take baby steps and take them immediately.
UPS Guy Caught on Cam Throwing Package
This UPS guy was caught on home security camera doing a real speed delivery. He delivers so fast, he actually threw the package.
Now, that’s fast! I just hope it’s not breakable.
Practical Guidelines for 2009
I got this from an email sent to me. Am reposting it here as it’s more or less a good set of guidelines for good living especially this coming 2009.
ONE. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
TWO. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.
THREE. Don’t believe everything you hear.
FOUR. When you say, “I love you,” mean it.
FIVE. When you say, “I’m sorry,” look the person in the eye.
SIX. Be engaged at least six months before you get married.
SEVEN. Believe in love at first sight.
EIGHT. Never laugh at anyone’s dream. People who don’t have dreams don’t have much.
NINE. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it’s the only way to live life completely.
TEN. In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.
ELEVEN. Don’t judge people by their relatives.
TWELVE. Talk slowly but think quickly.
THIRTEEN. When someone asks you a question you don’t want to answer, smile and ask, “Why do you want to know?”
FOURTEEN. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
FIFTEEN. When you lose, don’t lose the lesson
SIXTEEN. Remember the three R’s: Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions.
SEVENTEEN. Don’t let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
EIGHTEEN. When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
NINETEEN. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
TWENTY. Spend some time alone.
Public Warning: Joe Uy
Today, as I was about to go to bed in the morning (yes, I go to bed in the morning and go to work at night), I had a phone call from a certain guy who asked that his identity be kept anonymous inquiring about a certain Joe Uy. The name immediately rang a bell in my head as I encountered him more than a year ago when I was still working in IncreaseMedia.
Who is this Joe Uy? Well, before anything else, allow me to clarify the following:
- I understand that there are many Joe Uy’s in the Philippines.
- Joe Uy may actually just be an alias and not the real name of the person I’m talking about.
So, back to the story. As far as I can remember, this Joe Uy apparently “borrowed” the laptop of this guy’s daughter. Joe never returned the laptop and in fact even threatened the poor child warning her not to tell anyone about the incident or he would get back to her after the holiday. Sadly, I really couldn’t give any useful information so I instead gave him the number of my former officemate who was also a victim of the swindler Joe Uy.
What’s my officemate’s story? Well, Joe went to our office on a regular basis for quite a time because he knows a few people among the management. Truth is, he’s just met them a few times and don’t really “know” them but that doesn’t matter to Joe. One day, he offered to sell a laptop to my officemate who bought it for Php16,000 and was happy about it. A few days later, Joe went back to the office asking to borrow the laptop so that “he can copy his files”. She lent the laptop to Joe and again, Joe never went back!
To make the worst, a few weeks later, another guy went to our office looking for Joe Uy and this guy was the real owner of the laptop that was sold. So that’s two victims in one laptop.
Based on my encounters with him, his tactic is making use of names of certain people (in our case, he used the name of Jonathan Casuncad and also bashed Benj Arriola) to gain credibility/trust to the people around him. Once the trust factor is established, he starts with his hidden agenda.
This Joe Uy in my opinion is a very experienced swindler who has to be caught, fined and imprisoned for his criminal acts. Please share any information about this guy by posting a comment below. I think it’s about time that we act – victim or not – to have this guy apprehended.
Photos, address, stories and any other info will be highly appreciated.
There’s also a thread about him in the SEO Philippines forum.
