First, I worked as a consultant.
Now, they asked me to work on a regular basis - that is 5 days a
week. So, they no longer call me “I.T. Consultant” but “I.T.
Specialist”. Truth is this, if I were to have a staff under me,
then they would have called me “I.T. Manager” but that’s a long shot
for now - at least for this company.
Now, what are the differences? Well, more
work. More obligations. More stuff to do. The pay
remains the same (for now they say), but at least I’m getting a regular
income for my family. The great part is this - they allowed me to
do my business in the office which means I can still sell my web
hosting, develop websites, and even use the company’s internet and
phone equipment to contact my clients. Not bad huh? What else? I have my uniform now. (This is the first job
where I get to wear a set of uniforms). Beige for Monday, blue
for Tuesday, Grey for Wednesday, Green for Thursday, and anything goes
on Friday. It’s a “barong” type uniform and is very comfortable
to wear.

And lastly, the company’s president (who also happens to be my
godfather) lives in Lagro which is about 30 minutes away from my
home. When it’s time to go home, all I do is join him in his
car. He then drops me by a gas station where I can take a
jeepney. That’s a P15 savings per day.

The Juggler

I’m always amazed when I see a juggler juggling all those stuff in his
hands. I’m even more amazed when they begin to do tricks and
stunts while juggling. Then I start to realize that I’m a juggler
myself - but not that good at it yet.

Jugglers are admirable people. They seem to manage to juggle
everything they have without a sign of stress in their faces. In
fact, they even manage to smile at the camera and the audience.

Then I look at myself. I have a few things to juggle myself. They are (listed by priority)

  • Family
  • Church
  • Business
  • Business Clients (currently, there are 4)
  • Work

By looking at this alone, I start to feel stress within me.
Stress that I don’t know how to express. Perhaps, as a father, it
is my duty to be the best juggler I can be. I know that most of
my churchmates and other brethren in the born-again community will tell
me that there’s a better choice - to stop the juggling and leave the
rest to God. How I wish I could that. In fact, I want to do
that. But then perhaps my faith is not that strong yet.

Truth is, I already did that before - leaving everything to God.
But as each day passes by, the mountain of obligations grow before me
and eventually, it grew larger than what my faith can handle.
Gladly, it didn’t (and will never) grow to be larger than God.

So, for now, I’ll be the best juggler I can be - until my faith grows
to be large enough and learn to put things back in God’s hands again.

Pray for me… and my family…

It's all work these past few weeks.  I have to earn more money to support the needs of both my family and my still young web hosting business.  Good thing is that I see some light in the very near future.

I must admit that I hate working all the time.  I'm the type of
person who wants relaxation more than working but then as I mature and
grow older, the inevitable becomes obvious.  I have to work or me
and my family die in hunger (or perhaps be bums).

So, what work do I have at hand?  Just a few…

I'm currently working as consultant at ESIL Philippines (www.esilphil.com)
They're also considering to hire me as a fulltime I.T. person.
The pay is not that high but the job itself is promising.  ESIL
Philippines has a partner in the UK who appears to be interested in
hiring me temporarily and make me work in the UK.  I hope this
works out as it will most certainly give me a tremendous boost when it
comes to financial matters.

Then, I have my web hosting business - Sydel Computer Technologies (a.k.a. Sydel Web Hosting)
where I sell affordable and reliable web hosting.  So, if you need
web hosting, then you might want to visit www.sydel.net and decide for
yourself.  The business itself is still young and I'm pushing
myself to the limits to bring to a state of balance where I no longer
need to market it too much.  To you who are interested, I
guarantee 100% satisfaction.

Then I am in the middle of a project with Reina Sison.  The
project is currently in pending status as I have to wait for Reine's
accomplishments in integrating the site with a local payment
gateway.  Reine, if you're reading this, I will be glad to hear
updates from you.

Funtastic is also requesting me to make a modification in their website.  I will submit my quote for this in a few hours.

Then, I'm also looking forward to submitting a proposal to a Photo
Studio for website development and web hosting.  I hope they
accept my proposal.

Another client, Cuervo Far East, Inc., also requested me to make changes on their website.  I'm doing this for free as the changes are very minor.

What else????  Ahhh, of course, I'm in the process of building a
"web site product" - details I can't reveal yet - and hope that this
product will boost my sales by 100%.

Basically, that's all I have at hand.  Hopefully I can manage to finish them all without killing myself. :D  Hahaha

After a long wait, the website of Funtastic Stuff
(www.funtasticstuff.com) is finally complete. All polished and
paid. However, we still expect to see bugs in the near future.

I was required to pay one more visit to Funtastic - a trip that costs
me around P350 back and forth. But finally, the trip was worth it
as everything was finally completed and I was paid.

No more balances to wait from Funtastic and their site is now working fine!

God bless you all!

Problems with Unionbank

Ahhhhhhh!!!!  I have an EON account with Unionbank and this
account comes with a VISA Electron Debit Card.  My card's expiry
date is on March 2005 and so I'm confident that renewal will be made by
then.  But…

All of a sudden, I logged on to their online banking system and found
out that I can no longer login.  I called them and I was told that
such problems require a PIN reset.  And so I obliged.  The
next day they called me that they can't make a PIN reset because my
card was already expired!

And so I asked, shouldn't it expire on March 2005?  It's only
February!  Then I was told that EON Cards expire one month
before.  Well then, if that's their policy, that's fine BUT they
should have notified me FIRST.  I have all my contact info with
them and they didn't even bother do notify me?  Geez!!!  And
so now, though my bank account and other banking services "appear" to
be fine, I can't still access their online banking system which is very
crucial for me.

What a service!  I'm staying with them because thus far, they
provide the best deal - but services, hmmmmm, I can't really tell.

I taught my wife how to chat using GAIM in Linux and I got myself a
surprise when my daughter Kei chatted with me instead. It was
such a nice experience.
