The bike’s body is made of 100% Titanium alloy
which is the same as the
one’s used in Space Shuttle parts. The wheels are made from very
strong rubber similar to those used by the Boeing 747’s landing
gears. It also sports dual redundant hydraulic brakes in both
front and rear tires and the tire rims are made of the best
titanium-aluminum alloy. Then of course it has automatic
transmission which is connected to a high-speed computer that decides
which gear speed is best. Then finally, it boasts the latest in
computer technology - built into it’s body is a 40GHz Processor with
10TB of RAM and 50TB of storage. The computer handles lots of
tasks such as automatic braking, the automatic transmission previously
mentioned, proximity alerts, voice command controls, playing of mp3s
and lots of other things. Of course the operating system is a
custom-compiled Linux Operating System. Too good to be
true? Read on…
OK, you didn’t believe everything I said did you? I was just
dreaming… If you believed and sounded some ooohhhssss and
aaahhhssss, then you have to admit it - I got you!

This is how it really looks like. :-)

To reality, my mountain bike is a cheap one - bought it for about $55
(P2,880) but it is quite a good deal. It has shock absorbers and
is 32-speed. The body is made of ordinary alloy (not lightweight)
as well as the rims. In fact, my bike is so cheap that I broke
it’s pedals when I biked it home from the store (SM Fairview) to our
house in Tungkong Mangga (more or less 10kms). Nonetheless, I
must say that the overall performance of the bike is good. And
now that I’ve been biking for 4 days already, I can already feel my
stamina building up. I’m also getting used to the feel of the
bike and so I no longer have troubles (such as the chains getting
removed) with it.

So, what happened when I biked all those 10kms from SM Fairview to our
house? Well, it took me about 45 minutes. I pushed the bike
thrice on uphills, took a 10 minute rest in front of Pleasant Hills
(about 1km from home). As I said, I also had a chain problem once
and broke the pedals. Geez, it was difficult pedalling with
broken pedals. And I was wearing slacks, semi-formal polo, and a
black leather shoes - imagine that!!! Gladly, it was evening so
only a few probably noticed my attire. :-) I was totally
exhausted when I reached home!!! It was the longest bike ride I
ever made in the last 10 years.

Since I broke the pedals, I have too buy a new pair - this time it’s
made of metal as opposed to the previous plastic ones. I can say
that the new pair is better.

The Broken Pedal - the other half fell on the street. The pedal
on the other side fell off completely. Geez, I have heavy feet. The New Pedal - I hope this shiny metal pedal lasts longer.

What do I plan to do? Well, the main reason why I bought the bike
is to trim my tummies. I chose biking because I already biked 10
years ago where we used to bike 15 to 20 kms in Iloilo and I loved
it. I think it’s just about time to get back to it. After
all, it’s more fun than the treadmill or good ol’ walking.

Below are some more pics of my new mountain bike.

And another pic - this time adorned with my beautiful daughter Vhi.

Expect to see me in the streets - hopefully alive and not wounded (hahaha)!
