A Roxboro woman has filed a formal complaint with a local school board after her son was disciplined by a lunch program monitor at Ecole Lalande for eating in what she says is a customary Filipino manner.
Luc Cagadoc’s table behaviour is traditionally Filipino; he fills his spoon by pushing the food on his plate with a fork, his mother, Maria Theresa Gallardo, says.
Filipino table etiquette punished at local school

After viewing the news on tv something really got my bloof boiling to the max.
A second grade Filipino-Canadian boy was punished by the school principal for eating with a spoon and a fork. When his mother confronted the principal, he told her that his son should be eating inteligently and not like a pig! ???? Does this mean that billions of people are unintelligent? or they eat like a pig? WoW wait a sec, this does not seem right to me… I think there’s some ignorance with this part. Whosoever told this is one of them and needs a lot of reading, surfing, travelling and eating at different places with different ethnicity.
Mr. Principal I think YOU, YOURSELF should do a public apology not only for the kid that YOU, YOURSELF has done something very unprofessional but for our Filipino Culture and all other people who eats their meal with a very very wonderful piece of artwork, the Spoon and Fork.
If you want to give the principal an earful please email, call or send letters to him.
