Honey, Show Me Some Muscles Please…
I have a very very big problem and it’s my growing tummy. I believe that my growing tummy is a sign of good finances. However, a growing tummy can also bring in lots of unwanted things. Then one day, my wife said, “Honey, show me some muscles please…”. To be honest, I was a bit embarassed. I have no muscles to show. I have fats though.
I tried biking and walking but I quickly get bored plus I need to allocate time for that. When I bike or walk, I’m not at home and when I’m not at home then I am most likely letting money pass by. Yes, my home is my work place. I knew deep inside that I need a solution that would trim my fats, grow me muscles, and still be at home.
Then, for what I would call a divine intervention, I came across Keiser Performance Equipment. Yes, I search the web a lot but I didn’t find this website by searching. It was thrown right into my face by a good friend who referred it to me.

I wish that was me in the picture above. Oh yes, how I wish I would have a trim body with all the muscle my wife wants. That Keiser Runner would definitely fit in as a nice replacement to biking and walking. Hehehe.

Then they have this Keiser Squat thing which I think will also help me out.

Geez, I’m sold out! This Keiser guys really know what they’re talking about!
September 7 Partial Lunar Eclipse
A lunar eclipse is something that is not passed-up by weirdos like me. Ok, I’m not really a weirdo but many people call me so because I love going out at night upto early dawn just to look up the sky and take a look at the stars, the moon, the planets, comets, and meteors.
As anyone who knows me would expect, I stayed up and fought of the powers of sleepiness just to observe the September 7 partial lunar eclipse together with my wife. Eclipse officially starts at 4:42pm 0GMT so that would be 1:42am here in the Philippines since we are at +8GMT. We started our vigil at about 1:40 in the morning (Philippine time) though I knew nothing easily noticeable would be visible at this point.
I started seeing the penumbral shadow about 25 minutes later. The umbral phase began at 2:05am and after 5 minutes, the portion of the moon that the Earth’s shadow first touched began to look a bit flat. I told me wife to take a look and she noticed it.
We observed it and enjoyed it then my Vhi, my 5-year old daughter, woke up to pee. I called her and told her to take a look. She was still sleepy but she did take a look and even peeked through the binoculars. I’m not sure if she would remember what she saw when she wakes up. 10 minutes after, I tried waking up Kei but she was to sleepy to even try to open her eyes.
Me and my wife decided to quit the session at about 2:45am though the maximum eclipse will still be at 2:51am. Not that much of a difference anyway.
Guess what I did next? I posted this entry of course. Tomorrow, I will try to ask my friends at the Astronomical League of the Philippines to email me some of the photos that they took so I can post them here.
I enjoyed the night and I enjoyed the event - that’s for sure.
Lunar Eclipse - Waiting for it
It’s 11:11pm here in the Philippines (+8GMT) and I’m still waiting for the partial lunar eclipse which is to occur at about 3 hours from now. So I guess I just have to think of ways to keep myself alive, alert, awake, and enthusiastic. :D Also, I do hope that the weather cooperates.
More info about the eclipse can be found at http://space.com/spacewatch/060901_lunar_eclipse.html.
Orage - My Calendar Tool of Choice
I’ve been searching for the perfect calendar tool (for me) that would fit both my needs and taste. I tried Google Calendar, Evolution, Mozilla Sunbird, and even the Lightning plugin to Mozilla Thunderbird but none of them would fit my wants.
What do I want? Basically, what I want is something small, light, fast, and sets the alarm on time. Something that will not eat my system resources too much.
I use Linux and my desktop runs on XFCE 4.4 so I decided to give Orage a try. Orage is XFCE 4.4’s packaged calendar program. It provides basic calendaring functionalities and it supports the iCalendar format. It doesn’t have drag and drop capabilities or different views (day view, week view, month view, etc) but it works for me and I consider it to be an acceptable tradeoff since I want my calendar light and fast.
Here however or some weaknesses that I see.
- It only supports events and doesn’t support tasks - I would love it better if it supports a task list
- It doesn’t allow me to set a default alarm setting so I have to manually set the alarm for each event that I create. Same goes with setting the alarm sound.
- It doesn’t support multiple calendars so I have to device my own ways to easily identify what kind of event just fired up. Normally, what I do is just add a small note in the title (example: Work - do this and that, Family - watch movie with wife and kids, etc)
So far, those are the only things that I would love having.
Orage is still young and I believe that more things would come up as it gets better.
Got Paid for Blogging
If you think that getting paid for blogging is a dream come true then I tell you this - my dream did come true. There are lots of ‘bad publicity’ going around against PayPerPost.com. At first I was a bit skeptic myself about this blog advertising thing but then I thought that there’s no harm in trying so I signed up.
What I did next was pretty easy. I browsed their list of opportunities, took one of them, followed the requirements for that particular opportunity and submitted my blog entry to PPP for approval. I realized that this was too easy so I took another opportunity then another. The next day I did the same and so on.
Now, I have $109 in my PayPal account and I have $100+ more due for payment in the next few days. Apparently, what PayPerPost is true to their words no matter how much bad publicity PPP is getting.
3 Easy Steps to Manage your Emails
Email is a thing that most of us can no longer live without. I read my emails everyday and in some days, I spend at least an hour or two reading, answering, and writing my emails. The problem with emails is that it is fast becoming a headache as much as it is a solution to most people’s communication problems. In my case, I actually receive at least 500 emails per day. So how do I manage my emails?
Here are the simple things that I do that help me make the most out of my email experience.
- Install an anti-spam software - most email / web hosting providers would provide a way to filter spam and junk mail but sad to say that there are still some that don’t. Furthermore, most modern email software such as Thunderbird (which I use) support a Junk Mail filtering feature. This step alone will get rid of tons of unwanted mail that you really don’t want to read.
- Apply mail filters to incoming emails - I won’t go into the details on how to do this on every email client but generally, most email software would provide a way to filter incoming email so you can manage them easily. For me, I usually filter my emails by sender meaning that all mails from a certain person would go to a certain folder and so on.
- Manage all those Yahoo Groups - this goes also for other email groups that work similarly to the very popular Yahoo Groups. I am a member of 60+ Yahoo Groups but let me tell you what - I don’t read them all. What I do is logon to my Yahoo Groups account and set mail delivery to Digest Mode for all of the groups that I joined. Then I go back to my list of groups and set to ‘Individual Email’ only those that I really want to monitor daily.
I’m sure there are more ways to manage your emails but these 3 simple steps that I outlined are guaranteed to make your email life easier.
The PayPerPost Conspiracy Theory
Ever since I was I child, my grandfather always taught me that making money is not an easy task. I grew up with that knowledge and I find it to be true. Then suddenly, here comes PayPerPost. They making making money easy, in fact too easy that I think there’s a conspiracy behind this.
Imagine, all you have to do is put ads on blogs and then you get paid. Simple as that. No waiting for clicks or driving too much traffic to your blog. So I thought, what’s the catch??? Tell you what, I think PayPerPost is a secret US government project that aims to make people lazy so that Americans will start to grow bigger tummies and therefore gain more cholesterol and end up spending even more than what has been earned. C’mon, there’s always a catch and I think there’s more to this than meets the eye.
I think my new hairstyle will cost you more than ever
I think my new handsome look is going to cost you more than ever - that is if I will pursue my plan of maintaining it. At first, I thought it will save me money but then I ended up thinking that with the speed at which my hair grows back, I will end up going back to the barber at least once every two weeks whereas before, I only got a haircut once every 6 weeks. In other words, I will be spending thrice than before.
On the other hand, if I compute the benefits of my new hairstyle, I think it’s still worth it. In a matter of one week, I totally got rid of my dandruff which also saved me some shampoo spendings.
Anyway… it’s only a matter of time before I really find out if I will be spending or saving more than before.
P.S. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then check out my new look here.
Digg This!!!
It’s been quite some time since I joined PayPerPost and I find it to be pretty amazing and a very lucrative opportunity to make money blogging. I’ve been paid $109 already and I have another $100 pending for payment and to think that I only spend an hour a day (at most) typing things out. Too thumbs up to the guys at PayPerPost!
