Other blogs - more fun more work
Update (July 30, 2008): I failed to maintain and renew BukoRepublic.Com so it’s no longer mine now. I have taken out the link on the post below. I also did the same for PHP Best Practices. Both sites now point to domain parking sites which I really don’t like at all.
I’ve recently put up Buko Republic and I also signed-up as an author of PHP Best Practices. Doing so will help me hone my writing skills as well as help me spread my name through all the world - yes call it ego marketing, I admit it. Hehehe.
It’s more fun yet more work but I think getting involved in such matters will not only hone my writing skills but also help me reach my goals of becoming the man that I always wanted to be (no, not Superman). Here’s a short story about these two blogs.
Buko Republic - a blog for all Filipinos by all Filipinos. Every person who registers in this blog automatically becomes a contributor. So think of it more of a mix between a forum and a blog. However, in this case, every contribution made is subject for approval so no nonsense will be posted. Trusted contributors will be promoted to Author status meaning they can post articles without the need of approval. Anything can be discussed in this blog as long sa its ‘morally’ acceptable. Discussion can range from politics to the ‘panis na ulam na binenta ni aling nene’.
PHP Best Practices - it’s all in the name. The blog aims to be a resource for good PHP practices. I’ve already made my first post and I think I will be posting more soon.
I plan to create more blogs in the future as well as be involved in a handful of others but first I need to gain enough spare time and that my friend is the tough part.

Both the links on this page go to parked pages, one, the phpbestpractices one, isnt even in googles index… meaning they are probably “bad neighborhoods” according to google.
Hi Jeff,
I failed to maintain bukorepublic.com and eventually failed to renew the domain. As a result somebody else took the domain and used it for domain parking. I’ll update this blog post and put a note on top about that. Thanks for pointing it out. I totally forgot about this particular blog post. Hehehe.
As for PHP Best Practices, I don’t think it’s bad neighborhood. Not being indexed by Google is not analogous to being bad neighborhood.
Mike
P.S. I just noticed that PHP Best Practices is also now parked so I took out the link to that as well.
