My sister-in-law recently rented the movie “Emperor’s Club” from the local video-rental shop and I have one thing to say about this movie. It’s awesome. Only a handful of movies have moved me as this one. Here’s a short editorial review about the movie which best describes it.
Comparisons to Dead Poets Society are inevitable, but The Emperor’s Club achieves a rich identity all its own. In the honorable tradition of great teacher dramas like Goodbye, Mr. Chips, Kevin Kline is well cast as Mr. Hundert, longtime teacher of classics and assistant headmaster of St. Benedict’s Academy for Boys. There he encounters a defiant student and senator’s son (Emile Hirsch) who desperately needs–but ultimately rejects–Hundert’s lessons on leadership, integrity, and the shaping of character. Adapted from Ethan Canin’s short story “The Palace Thief,” the film is conventional to a fault, its flashback structure unfolding in Hollywood shorthand. But its noble sentiments remain potently intact, allowing Kline a performance of great emotional nuance while imparting lessons of universal value. “This is a story with no surprises,” as Hundert says, but The Emperor’s Club may surprise you with its admirable portrait of a life well lived. –Jeff Shannon
The movie was so good I watched it twice. In fact it was so so good that I couldn’t get it off my head for days. I even told friends about it. The story touched me so much that I’m applying most of it’s lessons in my very own life. It deals with decision making, cheating, and your contribution to society among others.
If you haven’t watched it yet, I suggest that you do. Get your copy of the DVD and watch it to your heart’s desire. It’s best for all ages - from the youth to the aspiring adults.
I have a friend and his name is Ruben Magat. He’ll be getting married this coming December to the love of his life - Eden Magallanes. For the past few months, they’ve been making the necessary preparations to make their wedding one of the most unforgettable moments in their life. Both are hectic with their assigned tasks such as making sure the venue has been reserved, wedding clothes, cake, invitations, the wedding programme, etc. Ruben sure looked like hell when I last saw him as he was so tired going back and forth getting his part done.
Furthermore, they are also the ones who made sure that the live band will be available and that they play well on wedding day. Add to that the trouble of calling friends whom they personally asked to sing on their wedding day, including me (ehem…)
I remember going through the same set of hectic tasks when me and my wife were preparing for our wedding day. But do weddings really have to be that tough for the soon to be wed only to find out that they forgot to buy a pair of wedding rings? God, I sure hope not.
Now, I want you to take a look at weddingstrategies.com. They have tips and articles that are very helpful for those working on their wedding plans. The ladies would surely want to read their beauty tips while the guys might want to read on what men should wear.
If you have not visited their site at this point yet, I suggest that you do. You’re missing a lot of great info if you’re doing a wedding planning at the moment.
Lastly, I’m glad to find out that such good resources do exist on the web to help people find the info they need in preparing for that super romantic wedding day. I’m going to tell Ruben about this as soon as he pays me a visit. I did shoot him an email but he seldoms checks it.

It’s been almost 2 years since I first bought a used Dell Latitude C600 which I use in my everyday work - yes, I’m even using it at this very moment while writing this blog post. I bought it for $600 back then and nowadays, it’s at least $100 cheaper.
Through all my usage, I have to say that the Dell Latitude C600 is a good laptop to work on. Though now my battery is already broken, one of laptop’s hinges is ruined, and the ‘menu key’ & ‘pencil eraser’ are detached, it still works fine. I installed Linux on it but it originally came with Windows 2000 pre-installed. The major disadvantage of buying used laptops though is that they’re - well - used. Used means it breaks easier and you have no idea how the previous owner handled it. You may not see any problems at first but you can never tell.
My new goal is go get a brand new but cheap laptop. Though a cheap brand new laptop can never be as cheap as a used laptop, I’m still willing to pay the higher price since I will be getting everything ‘clean and new’ without me having to worry about the handling of some previous owner. Of course, there’s also the warranty that comes with brand new products. I’m looking into something like this cool looking ASUS notebook.

Now, all I have to do is raise the money I need to buy this laptop or something better.
Last Monday, a friend of mind together with his wife and his in-laws travelled to Thailand and though his in-laws had to pay for themselves, my friend and his wife are travelling for free. This made me think of the idea of travelling to some island get-away on a Caribbean vacation, to some spot in the world where I can just rest and leave all my worries behind.
To gather information, I went over to warmislands.com and browsed their website reading articles along the way. They do provide good information regarding the different tropical vacation spots such as the Bahamas, Bermuda, and the Caribbean. The site also offers valuable information on cruising, cruising lines and even the food. They even have a members forum which I think is a must join if you’re planning (or hoping) to have that tropical beach vacation of yours.
Ok, now I think it’s about time for me to think of means and ways to raise the money that I will need to make this dream come true. My plan is to travel together with my family - wife and 2 (soon to be 3) kids - so we can all enjoy the soon to be wonderful moment together. It’s not gonna be cheap but it sure is gonna be worthwhile since it will be a moment of bonding and refreshing.
So what destinations are in my mind? A trip to Jamaica would be nice. Oh how I love to hear those Jamaican music in the air being sung by original Jamaicans on original Jamaican ground. What about the Bahamas? Or maybe the Bermuda. Hey, Bermuda wouldn’t be bad. I think it would be interesting especially with all the stories of missing ships in the Bermuda triangle.
Well, oh well. I think in the end it all matters to when we will have the time and money to make this dream come true.
Hey, I’m not saying this myself. Arnold did! Take a look…

If you want to protest, go and pay the governor a visit in his office.
It’s been a few months since I first signed up for PayPerPost and though my earnings is relatively low compared to those who joined at around the same time as me, I still have to say that I’m making good money. Good thing I did some blog hopping on Technorati some months back. This regular habit of mine brought me across a website talking about PPP. I can’t really remember the exact URL but basically he’s saying that PayPerPost is the new kid on the block. I checked out the link from his website and since then I got hooked with PPP.
I have nearly $400 in total PayPerPost earnings ever since I signed-up months back and I really haven’t been that active in taking PPP opportunities. That said, I think I need to spend more time blogging and less time playing. Hehehehe.
What would I do with all that money? For now, I’ll save it and when I’ve earned enough, I would invest it on one of the business ideas I have in mind but if I couldn’t wait that long, I might just buy cool cellphone that I always wanted to buy.
Have you heard of Google Coop? Well, if you’ve heard of it way before then good for you but for me, I just heard about it today while searching technorati for the keyword ‘technology’. I immediately checked it out and I have to admit that it is one good piece of whatever you want to call it.
Google Coop gives webmasters the powers to create their own search engine, design specialized search results, and help users refine their searches. I won’t go into the details but if you’re interested, I suggest that you take a look at it at www.google.com/coop.
As for me, I will still think of ways to make this Google Coop thing work for my benefit.
I love trivias. I would often search the web for certain trivias when I need to speak to a group of people. Trivias are a good way of breaking the ice and it’s proper use would usually arouse the interest of my listeners.
Of all my trivia sources online, I have found nothing better than the Aviva Trivia Blog as it provides not just ’short’ information about a certain topic. Rather it provides what I would call a brain-satisfying information. It’s just one amazing trivia blog.
I couldn’t believe that I haven’t found this website before but now that I did, I definitely wouldn’t let it go out of my site - I bookmarked it and I even del.icio.us‘d it so other’s can find out about it as well.
I don’t know where this blog gets its info but one thing’s for sure - whatever it’s source is - it’s one good source. But more than, what matters to me is the quality of the information it provides.
Hmmm, maybe I should add it’s RSS feed to this website…
As a blogger and as someone who takes blogging seriously and not just as an online diary where one can ramble and ramble, it is common for me to experience what I would call a ‘brain drain’ - that is, a period where I simply can’t think of anything to write. Funny part is that there are lots of things to talk about and yet during these brain drain moments, it seems that I can’t think of where to start.
What causes brain drain? I believe that a combination of different factors can result to this unlikely phenomenon. I usually experience brain drain when I have
- Too many things to do
- Nothing to do at all
- Too much stress / pressure
- Too much rest
- Too much work
- Too much play
You may note the extremities between factors. Based on my personal observation, it is during these times of abnormal mental activity that I experience brain drain.
What about you? When do you experience brain drain?
