What do you get if two brothers combine the techniques of the “Street Fighters” and the “Drunken Masters”?  You get Street Fighting Drunken Brothers… Enjoy the video below which I took with my handy Motorokr E6 cellphone.  The video was taken just right in front of my mother-in-law’s house in Bulacan.  Enjoy!

The Boy Bastos Controversy

September 10, 2007 · Posted in Mike's Blog · 2 Comments

The pen name “Boy Bastos” suddenly grew in popularity after the person behind it – Mark Verzo – was invited into the NBI HQ for questioning. Though I’ve already heard the name Boy Bastos before, I never really took time to look at his site. I’ve read the news on Abe’s blog and my first thoughts were “too bad for him.”

So, why am I blogging about this? At first I thought that Mark Verzo a.k.a. Boy Bastos was being violated by the government especially after I saw the name Loren Legarda on this particular blog post by Abe wherein Abe said, “Don’t insult or taunt Loren…” – this made me initially think that Loren took action against Mark Verzo because Mark insulted Loren. Add to that the numerous messages I got via Yahoo Messenger saying that we bloggers should defend Mark Verzo. Yes, I haven’t heard of the news prior to reading said blog post but apparently I was wrong into thinking that Boy Bastos was bullied by powers-at-be.

I was already about to write a “Support Boy Bastos” blog post and as a force of habit, I did some research. Good thing Abe wrote another blogpost about the spreading misinformation. Upon reading it and another article written by “The Warrior Lawyer” about Boy Bastos, I came into conclusion that support for Boy Bastos from the Philippine blogging community might just taint the image of us local Filipino bloggers. In this regard, I back Abe’s call to “review the facts” before we take action. Thing is, Mark appears to have violated – through his website exhibiting pornographic content – Philippine laws relating to morality and perhaps a few more.

So, would I support Mark? If he was bullied for no reason, I would — but he wasn’t. In fact, he wasn’t even bullied by Loren at all. So I say, let justice prevail and let’s see what happens next.

Lastly – No, I don’t like Loren. Just in case you’re wondering… :D
