STI Novaliches invited me last year to do a short seminar on I.T. to their graduating students and I did my best in sharing my knowledge to the students. Apparently, they liked it and so they invited me again. This time, it’s a 3-day seminar on HTML, CSS, PHP and MySQL to 30+ students. Total number of hours was 18 hours (6 hours / day).
It was both challenging and fun - challenging in the sense that I have to keep them awake and fun because I love teaching and the students themselves are fun to be with.
Here are some photos to share.

Now, do you see what I mean when I said that the students are fun to be with? Even better than fun though is that all the students have potential and a handful are just pure excellent. Some would ask how to fix things while others would experiment on how to fix things - asking me only when they really couldn’t figure it out. In general, they all showed interest in learning and so I was inspired to start two new websites because of them. The Coders Cult Blog and the Coders Cult Forum. Visit them, anyone can join.
Mr. Alwin Abalajen awarding me a plaque of appreciation
Special thanks to Mr. Alwin C. Abalajen for inviting me once more. It’s been a pleasure teaching your students. Looking forward to 2009. Also, thank you to Ms. Joan Abelong for keeping in touch and keeping me updated during the preparation period. You’ve done a great job organizing this event. And lastly to all the students, thanks for listening and I hope you learned at least a little of what I taught you.

Yeah CSS, PHP and MySQL rules. Well, sana magiprove pa ang MySQL pero ok ang performance ng MySQL compare dun sa MS SQL, for me ah.

It is really nice to learn things that are not taught in school and hear it from those with lots of working experience with real life problems than from someone with lots of teaching experience.
But it is also not pleasurable to listen to someone with lots of working experience that can’t communicate and teach well.
Mike has the working experience. And he communicates his thoughts well.
